Bunny, Fried Egg
Oil on canvas and fabric, 30x40cm, 2024
Artwork Statement
Bunny, Fried Egg captures a moment in which the illusion of female growth, like an empty candy wrapper, begins to break apart, alongside an initial exploration and reflection on the body and identity.
This moment reflects the subtle fluctuations of her emotions, while also resembling a mirror-like act of self-observation. From the perspective of queer theory, the body and identity are continuously constructed through social norms and expectations surrounding so-called “femininity.” As the predetermined script imposed on me, the idea that I should be happy and loved, begins to collapse, what emerges is confusion, pain, and a renewed recognition of my genuine emotional experience.
