At Noonish
Mixed media on canvas, 90 x 120 cm, 2024
Artwork Statement
At Noonish is an abstract landscape rooted in memory — not of a specific place, but of a feeling. Inspired by the vibrancy of the Fauvist movement, the work reflects how colour and light can shape our emotional recollections of the world around us.
Rather than depicting a literal scene, Amy wanted to capture the warmth, freedom, and spontaneity of a midday moment as it lives in the mind — bright, exaggerated, a little dreamlike. The rolling shapes and playful brushstrokes suggest familiar forms: hills, trees, shadows — but they’re filtered through an inner lens, where memory transforms into mood.
In this piece, Amy explore how landscapes don’t just exist outside of us, but also within us — shaped by how we remember them, and how we long to return.
